AÇEV was officially founded.

AÇEV began implementation in 5 provinces.
 

  Development of an adult literacy program begun.

In collaboration with Bosphorus University, a conference entitled ‘Evaluating Human Development’ was held.

“AÇEV’s Expansion Strategies Workshop”, in which this program’s expansion to 80 provinces was planned with international participants from UNICEF and other organizations.
 

 
A symposium entitled “The Importance of Early Childhood Education” was held with international participants.

Implementation of the Functional Adult Literacy Program began.

AÇEV beganimplementation throughout Turkey as part of “The World Bank-MONE Non-formal Education Project”.
 

  Development of “the Father Support Program” began.

Implementation of the ‘Mother Child Education Program’ began in Belgium.

With the support of The Bernard Van Leer Foundation, an evaluation of AÇEV was conducted.
 
 
A symposium entitled “Non-formal Education: An Instrument of Societal Development” was realized with international participants.

25 educational video cassettes based on AÇEV were produced and distributed to 60 provinces.
 
 
AÇEV, in partnership with The Averroes Foundation, began implementation in Holland.

AÇEV became the “Central Asian Regional Representative for the Consultative Group on Early Childhood Care and Development.

Implementation of The Father Support Program began.
 
 
Upon invitation from the President of Turkey, AÇEV presented its activities to various ministers and state officials in the Presidential Palace.

In collaboration with Koc University, a symposium entitled “The Multidimensional Effects of Non-formal Education Programs Designed for Women”
was held.

AÇEV was declared “The UNESCO Early Childhood Cooperating Centre for Central Asia”

The Pre-school Parent Child Training Program began implementation.

The “Central Asia Literacy Forum” was held in Turkey.

An evaluation of FALP (literacy program) was conducted with support from the Spencer Foundation.
 
 
International symposium entitled “The Role and Importance of Fathers in the Child’s Life” was held.

Implementation of the Mother Child Education Program in Germany, Belgium and France began.

The Izmit Rehabilitation Centre was founded under AÇEV’s leadership in response to the devastating earthquake in the region.
 

  AÇEV received the “Best NGO” Award from the New Facts and Arts Group.

AÇEV received the KASAKOM Millennium Award for its activities and training programs.

Mother Child Education Program was translated to Flemish.

The Father Support Program began implementation with the Turkish Armed Forces.

A research project entitled “Early Childhood Education in Turkey: Needs Assessment and Evaluation of Children’s Linguistic Competence Levels” was conducted in Diyarbakır, Van and Istanbul.

The Mother Child Education Program’sinstructor training seminar was conducted in English in Bahrain.

The Literacy Information Hotline began providing services to callers nationwide.
 
 
“Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit” is established under IREM

“Mother Development Program” is started in Bahrain in cooperation with AÇEV-Bahrain Children Group

“Preschool Education and Teacher Training Meeting” is held with the attendance of faculty members of all education colleges training preschool teachers in Turkey.

“Literacy and Women Support” and “Preschool Education” programs are developed with the support of Open Society Institute.

The first 65 sequences of the TV program “Will you Play with me” designed for preschool children and their families by AÇEV-TRT is put on air in February and the next 65 sequences will start to be broadcasted on channel TRT 1 in September.

ACEP which was applied since 1993 by our foundation in cooperation with the National Education Ministry is transferred to the General Directorate of Apprenticeship and Extended Education.

IYOP courses are held in 3 provinces in October under the Southeastern Anatolia Education Project.

The TV program “Will you Play with me”, a joint production of AÇEV and TRT is awarded as the “Best Children’s Program” by Radio Television Journalists Association.

IREM is transferred to the Medical School of Koçaeli University.
 
 
Preparations for the third 65 sequences of the TV program “Will you Play with me!”, a joint production of AÇEV-TRT , started to be put on air in September.

Preschool Education Program and Mother Support Program are started in Diyarbakır under the Southeastern Anatolia Region Education Project.

“Educational Reform Inititative” started under the cooperation of Sabancı University, AÇEV and Open Society Institute.
