1993   AÇEV was officially founded.

AÇEV began implementation in 5 provinces.
 
1994
  Development of an adult literacy program begun.

In collaboration with Bosphorus University, a conference entitled ‘Evaluating Human Development' was held.

“AÇEV's Expansion Strategies Workshop”, in which this program's expansion to 80 provinces was planned with international participants from UNICEF and other organizations.
 
1995
 
A symposium entitled “The Importance of Early Childhood Education” was held with international participants.

Implementation of the Functional Adult Literacy Program began.

AÇEV beganimplementation throughout Turkey as part of “The World Bank-MONE Non-formal Education Project”.
 
1996
  Development of “the Father Support Program” began.

Implementation of the ‘Mother Child Education Program' began in Belgium.

With the support of The Bernard Van Leer Foundation, an evaluation of AÇEV was conducted.
 
1997
 
A symposium entitled “Non-formal Education: An Instrument of Societal Development” was realized with international participants.

25 educational video cassettes based on AÇEV were produced and distributed to 60 provinces.
 
1998
 
AÇEV, in partnership with The Averroes Foundation, began implementation in Holland.

AÇEV became the “Central Asian Regional Representative for the Consultative Group on Early Childhood Care and Development.

Implementation of The Father Support Program began.
 
1999
 
Upon invitation from the President of Turkey, AÇEV presented its activities to various ministers and state officials in the Presidential Palace.

In collaboration with Koc University, a symposium entitled “The Multidimensional Effects of Non-formal Education Programs Designed for Women”
was held.

AÇEV was declared “The UNESCO Early Childhood Cooperating Centre for Central Asia”

The Pre-school Parent Child Training Program began implementation.

The “Central Asia Literacy Forum” was held in Turkey.

An evaluation of FALP (literacy program) was conducted with support from the Spencer Foundation.
 
2000
 
International symposium entitled “The Role and Importance of Fathers in the Child's Life” was held.

Implementation of the Mother Child Education Program in Germany, Belgium and France began.

The Izmit Rehabilitation Centre was founded under AÇEV's leadership in response to the devastating earthquake in the region.
 

2001

  AÇEV received the “Best NGO” Award from the New Facts and Arts Group.

AÇEV received the KASAKOM Millennium Award for its activities and training programs.

Mother Child Education Program was translated to Flemish.

The Father Support Program began implementation with the Turkish Armed Forces.

A research project entitled “Early Childhood Education in Turkey: Needs Assessment and Evaluation of Children's Linguistic Competence Levels” was conducted in Diyarbakır, Van and Istanbul.

The Mother Child Education Program'sinstructor training seminar was conducted in English in Bahrain.

The Literacy Information Hotline began providing services to callers nationwide.
 
2002
 
“Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit” is established under IREM

“Mother Development Program” is started in Bahrain in cooperation with AÇEV-Bahrain Children Group

“Preschool Education and Teacher Training Meeting” is held with the attendance of faculty members of all education colleges training preschool teachers in Turkey.

“Literacy and Women Support” and “Preschool Education” programs are developed with the support of Open Society Institute.

The first 65 sequences of the TV program “Will you Play with me” designed for preschool children and their families by AÇEV-TRT is put on air in February and the next 65 sequences will start to be broadcasted on channel TRT 1 in September.

ACEP which was applied since 1993 by our foundation in cooperation with the National Education Ministry is transferred to the General Directorate of Apprenticeship and Extended Education.

IYOP courses are held in 3 provinces in October under the Southeastern Anatolia Education Project.

The TV program “Will you Play with me”, a joint production of AÇEV and TRT is awarded as the “Best Children's Program” by Radio Television Journalists Association.

IREM is transferred to the Medical School of Koçaeli University.
 
2003
 
Implementation of the Preschool Education Program and Mother Support Program developed within the context of the Southeast Anatolian Education Project began in Diyarbakir.

The third 65-part segment of the AÇEV-TRT collaboration “Will You Play with Me ?” went on the air.

The Education Reform Initiative was initiated with the collaboration of AÇEV, Sabanci University and Open Society Institute.

AÇEV received the “Vehbi Koc Award”, presented by the Vehbi Koc Foundation, due to its contributions and efforts in the area of education.

Implementation of the Family Letters Project began in partnership with the Turkish Union of Banks.

Communication with Children Seminars began in elementary schools in Istanbul , and in different provinces with the support of various sponsors.

The meeting entitled “Early Childhood Education Policies: Expansion, Administration and Structure” was held in Ankara, and attended by the Ministry of National Education, the Social Services and Child Protection Agency, various universities, and AÇEV.
 
 
 
  2004  
Implementation of the Preschool Education Program and Mother Support Program developed within the context of the Southeast Anatolian Education Project continued in Diyarbakir , and implementation of the Functional Adult Literacy and Women's Support Program continued in Diyarbakir , Urfa , Mardin, and Van.

The fourth 65-part segment of the AÇEV-TRT collaboration “Will You Play with Me ?” went on the air as of September.

The “Continuing Effects of Early Intervention in Adult Life” research study conducted by Prof. Dr. Cigdem Kagitcibasi, Prof. Dr. Diane Sunar, Prof. Dr. Sevda Bekman, and Dr. Zeynep Cemalcilar was completed.

Bosphorus University faculty member Prof. Dr. Me hmet Kaytaz prepared the “Benefit-Cost Analysis of Preschool Education in Turkey ” report.

As a result of the collaboration established between the Social Services and Child Protection Agency, the Apprenticeship and Non-Formal Education General Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, and the Special Education Guidance and Counseling General Directorate, implementation of the Father Support Program was expanded to 16 provinces.

In Kazakhstan , through the collaborative efforts of AÇEV, UNICEF, and ISSA/Step by Step, training was provided on “Advocacy” and attended by various institutions and non-governmental organizations working in the area of early childhood development in Central Asia.

AÇEV hosted the annual meeting of the International Early Childhood Consultative Group, in Istanbul.

 
 
  2005  
Training efforts have begun in the provinces of Istanbul, Adana and Bursa within the context of the project entitled “Sexual Health/Reproductive Health and Parent Training in Limited-Resource Families,” and in the provinces of Adana, Van, and Erzurum within the context of the project entitled “Literacy Training for Sexual Health-Reproductive Health and Our Rights,” both of which will be implemented for two years within the context of the “Reproductive Health Program in Turkey” backed by a European Union financial grant and administered by the Ministry of Health.

In a second project backed by the European Union, ACEV joined forces with the Association for Supporting and Educating Women Candidates (KA.DER) and the Education Reform Initiative (ERI). Within the context of this project, and with the aim of creating a center-based model for the elimination of gender inequalities in primary school in four provinces of Turkey, it is planned to actualize the parent training seminars; implement the “Functional and Political Literacy for Women” program and reach 7,000 women; organize information-sharing meetings that aim to raise consciousness on the importance of girl children’s education and gather support for the elimination of gender inequalities; and organize dialogue meetings with representatives of society.

ACEV organized, with the contribution of UNICEF, the “Quality in Preschool Education: The Role of Universities” meeting between April 21-22. A total of 80 people from the Ministry of National Education, other NGOs, and department heads and faculty members from 20 universities attended the meeting.

ACEV realized its second education-via-television project in collaboration with Kanal D and the newspaper Posta. Through the program geared towards women entitled “Our Classroom” that aired for the first time on June 27 and lasted 12 weeks, illiterate adults between the ages of 14 and 55 were provided literacy education.
 
 
  2006  
AÇEV was awarded the UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize.

AÇEV is a partner of the "Family Literacy" Project under Grundvig 2 Learning Parterships of EU's Socrates Programme, collaborating with 6 partner institutions from 5 different countries.

AÇEV prepared a TV programme named "It is a nice thing to be a father". The programme was on the significance of fathers regarding the development pf the child and was a serial of 8 parts broadcasted once a week from 7 October 2006.

The second national conference of "Gender Equality in Education and Social Participation" project run by the partnership of AÇEV, KA.DER and ERG, was held in İstanbul on 21 December 2006.
 
 
  2006  
MOCEP was started to be implemented in Switzerland and Saudi Arabia.

AÇEV became a partner of “IMPACT-Improving Parenting Competencies” project within Grundtvig 1 under EU Socrates programme, collaborating with 8 institutions from 5 different countries.

Within the Nutrition project run under "7 is too late!" and in partnership with Ministry of Education during 2006-2007 academic year 45,000 children were given nutritional support by sponsors in 21 priority provinces for development.

AÇEV developed www.7cokgec.org website which is informing parents and trainers on early childhood period.

AÇEV and Yürekli Training and Consultancy firm collaborated in order to provide support for 2007 Summer Preschools implementation. During Brand Conference organized by Yürekli Training and Consultancy and held in 2006, "Brand 2006 for 2006 Children" slogan was used for attracting sponsorship. During the project, 60 preschool classes were opened in Diyarbakır and Mardin.
