The importance of early childhood has been clearly documented and yet existing preschool services do not reach the majority of children—especially those children who, because of unfavorable socio-economic conditions, are already at high risk developmentally. Thus, since 1993, AÇEV has been working towards creating an alternative to center-based preschool programs aimed only at the child.
As such, AÇEV:
|
| • |
Provides an alternative widespread, non-formal education model to those who do not have access to formal education, |
| • |
Supports existing preschool activates, develops programs which strengthen the relationship between school and family, |
| • |
All programs are evaluated and continuously developed in order to respond to changing needs and conditions |
| • |
Cooperates with the state and other NGO's in order to spread its programs, provides training support and consultancy, |
| • |
Trains and supports volunteers instructors who implement most of its programs, |
| • |
In order to reach more beneficiaries, uses different methods and types of media including TV and training videos. |
