ACEV Launched the First Child and Family Center in the Heart of the Earthquake Zone – Adıyaman

We are thrilled to announce the opening of the Adıyaman Child and Family Center in partnership with the Vodafone Turkey Foundation. 🧡

Drawing on over three decades of experience, we have worked tirelessly since the February 2023 earthquake to support the health and well-being of those affected by the earthquake, particularly children. Now we’ve built a permanent home for those efforts – a Child and Family education center – in the heart of temporary housing facilities in one of the most affected regions.

ACEV’s early childhood education experts designed evidence-based programs for young children, parents, and women affected by the earthquake. Our goal is to support children’s education, equip parents with the skills to support children’s psycho-social well being post-earthquake, and empower young women.

Our aim is to create a safe, happy, and peaceful place for children and families.

Adıyaman Child and Family Center features a library with toys and books for children, especially those living in surrounding post-earthquake temporary housing.  ACEV has designed play-based child centered programs with semi-structured daily routines for 3-to-4-year-old and 5-to-6-year-old children. The goal is for preschool age children to make a healthy transition to primary school.

To strengthen the integrated services for early childhood, we are partnering with parents and caregivers as well. To ensure parents’ well-being and empower them with the skills to provide children with nurturing care in this humanitarian crisis, the center offers a structured parenting program to help them meet their children’s needs. And to support women’s empowerment, the center offers a program curriculum for young women aimed at supporting their well-being and giving them the tools to shape their own future.

Parents need support to give their children the best start in life. ACEV remains committed to that goal, and supporting those affected by the earthquake through active, long-term, and scientifically grounded initiatives.

Our next two centers in other affected areas Gaziantep (Nurdagi) and Hatay (Defne) will open in the coming months, so we are very excited to reach more children, parents, and young women very soon.🎈
